About Sozopol

Sozopol is a popular beach resort that lies on the southern Gulf of Bourgas. It was once one of Ancient Greece's oldest settlements formerly known as 'Apollonia Pontica' named after Apollo, the patron of seafarers.

Sozopol offers two fine, sandy beaches, set off nicely against the tranquil charm of fishing life. One beach lies within a sheltered bay with the second, larger beach extending southwards beyond the headland. A range of watersports facilities are available as well as fresh and sea water fishing.

In contrast, to the older areas of the town, Sozopol also has a busy, thriving modern quarter with many restaurants, cafes and bars which serve late into the evening.
