It has a population of 8.4 million and is divided into 28 districts. The capital Sofia has 1.2 million inhabitants. The main airport is situated in Sofia, with further airports at Plovdiv, and on the coast at Varna and Bourgas. It is 2 hours ahead of GMT and a flight takes just 3 hours from the UK.
